This weeks featured artist is very funny. We love her clips they always make us laugh. Just very clever and witty as well as always done in a great style. We love that she uses DoInk with her family too! Got to love having the whole family on DoInk. This weeks featured artist is gkrussell99.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
Oy, work from 6-2, homeschooling three kids, teaching Tae Kwon Do in the evenings…I DoInk while I’m watching TV because I can’t stand sitting still, doing nothing.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
I used to doodle in college a little bit, but I was always frustrated by mistakes. Even when they were fixed you could see where they had been, so I never did much after I was done sitting in classes. My daughter, LassieTheArtist, has been on DoInk for awhile and kept telling me I should try it, so a month or so ago, I
gave it a whirl. I do sometimes find the mouse hard to draw with, but I LOVE how you can fix things and it doesn’t show. This is my first experience with animating (if you can call it that).
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
Gary Larson, “The Far Side”. I love how he was always able to communicate with such simple lines and ideas.
What inspires you?
Everyday life; sometimes ordinary stuff just strikes me as quirky.
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
I guess Calvin & Hobbes, they have some terrific facial expressions.
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
Steely Dan or Booker T & the MG’s!
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
Prolly the same as most, except I love the Online Etymology Dictionary, http://www.etymonline.com/. Words are fascinating things. (I’ve had to exercise great self-control not to correct some of the grammar I’ve seen on DoInk; it’s the whole Mom/teacher/OCD thing.)
What are your hobbies?
Other than doodling, I love to read, I go to Tae Kwon Do 4-5 times a week, and I’m the pianist/back-up vocalist at church every week. –sigh- Not enough hours in a day. ☺
What are your favorite Computer Game?
Lassie & I play Nancy Drew games together pretty often, but I think my favorite of all time was “Riven”, followed closely by “The Last Express”.
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
Like I said, blame Lassie. I love DoInk, though it’s slightly addictive.
If you could add any features to DoInk, what would they be?
Um…I don’t think I’ve actually figured out all the features DoInk DOES have, so I’d prolly suggest something that’s already there and look even more ignorant than I already do.
Any advice for other DoInk users?
Remember, you can’t please everybody. What appeals to one person won’t appeal to another, so don’t feel bad if not everything you do is popular. (The most frequent response I get around here is, “I don’t get it.”) Don’t do it for the approval, do it because you like it.
