The Featured Artist of the Week-Ardythekoi

The featured artist of this week was just in our spotlight here at DoInk for winning our Thanksgiving contest. We love her work. She is just so talented and we all loved her Thanksgiving clip. The animation itself was amazing, the characters were spectacular and the the story was so sweet and so well inspired by Thanksgiving. She also has an account under YoBananaAnj, and that has a lot of her cool character Boe. Her talent and kindness are an inspiration to the whole DoInk community. The featured artist this week is Ardythekoi.

Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?

Well… most of my days are pretty much the same. I wake up, eat three square meals a day, and pretty much just do whatever. Most of the time it’s playing the drums, getting on DoInk, or just hanging with friends and family. I’m graduated from highschool so I have alot of time to do what I want to.. Lol.

How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?

Actually, I’ve only been drawing for about three years. I remember the exact day, it was Christmas Eve, 2006. And I’ve animated a little stick figure on a pad of paper before.. but that’s about it before I found DoInk.

Do you have a favorite artist or animator?

My favorite artist is definitely Jessica Peffer. She’s the artist that first inspired me to do art.

What inspires you?

Alot of stuff. Of course my brothers and sisters play a big part in my inspiration.. but I’ve gotten inspiration from very random, and unexpected things. Like

oranges, shoes, bottle caps, spots and stripes, different plants growing on the lawn, etc.

Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?

Mickey Mouse would probably have to be my favorite. And Perry the platypus is my second favorite.. because he’s awesome.

What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?

Sanctus Real. I mostly listen to Christian Rock.. but I also like classic rock, oldies, Techno, classical, a tiny bit of country.. and pretty much anything I listen to that I like.

What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?

I don’t do much web browsing.. but I spend quite a bit of time on Facebook.

What are your hobbies?

Hmm….. Playing guitar, drums, skateboarding, melbourne shuffling (Lol), video games, RPGs, painting, drawing, animating, and just hangin’ around. :)

What are your favorite Computer Game?

DDO, Halo, Portal, Dungeon Siege, Dragon Eye, Elder Scrolls games, and Sacred. Couldn’t just pick one, Lol.

How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?

I saw an ad for DoInk on Facebook. One thing I’ve learned after a while of being on DoInk is that sometimes, animating takes a lot of patience. It’s kind-of like learning to skateboard. It’s not always as easy as it sounds. And if you want to excel, you’ve got to have the will to get back up again when you fall.

Any advice for other DoInk users?

Don’t give up on animating just because it’s getting frustrating.  If it’s not working out the way you want it to at first, just try again until you get it right. If you try hard enough you can accomplish anything. Sometimes when I get frustrated with a picture or animation I’m working on, I find it helpful to take a break every once in a while. Just get up from your computer and do something else for a bit. Maybe sniff a few roses. Remember, DoInk is supposed to be a fun place.. so don’t stress yourself out too much.

Your favorite clip that you have done?
