This Week’s Featured Artist - Nano_Rain

This week’s featured artist has a great style with amazing detail. Their spotlight clip is one of our favorites too. Just amazing detail with the slight snow animation is so striking. But we love so much of this artists work. We also loved their recent clip: at the water park, which just said Summer to me. This artist is so talented and we so appreciate how involved they are with Doink community and the contests. This week’s featured artist is Nano_Rain.

Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?

When I don’t have school I’m reading manga or novels, watching anime, drawing, and occasionally writing.

How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I didn’t really get into animating until this past year.

Do you have a favorite artist or animator?

There’s too many for me to possibly choose.

What inspires you?

I usually feel inspired by music. But even the most random of things can give me a good idea.

Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
I have a couple favorite anime characters… Naruto from… Naruto, Fulle from Scrapped Princess, and Toboe from Wolf’s Rain.

What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
I don’t have a favorite band, but I usually listen to a lot of Japanese music.

What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?

The websites I visit most often I’d say are deviantart, gaiaonline, and tinierme.

What are your hobbies?

Hobbies… Pretty much what I do everyday. Read, write, draw, watch anime.

What are your favorite Computer Games?
I played this World of Warcraft-like game called Aion. It was awesome. Until the free trial expired.

How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?

I was just desperately trying to find an animation website one day and stumbled across doink, I’m glad I did because I love it.

If you could add any features to DoInk, what would they be?
A blur tool? Not like the gradient tool, just something that will smear the edges of the drawings.

Any advice for other DoInk users?
Experiment. Even now I’m still finding cool tricks to do in the create, just by messing with composition mode, opacity, etc.

What is your favorite clip that you have done?

I think I like my Zabuza and Haku the best, I’m just proud of how well it turned out. Or maybe I just like Zabuza’s arm…
