This Weeks Featured Artist-Keel

This weeks featured artist is an amazing animator. We love what he has done with his clips. The movement and style are phenomenal. His animations continue to amaze us. He can do it all from stick figures to dragons. Just an amazing artist. He is also a great part of the DoInk community. The featured artist this weeks is Keel.

Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?

A typical day? Oh jeez…. Let’s see. I start off with waking up to the noise of my dog’s moaning. Cause she’s ready to go outside. Get ready for college, Head out, Hang around between classes. Usually after my last class, I hop on a computer and check all my accounts around the net. Do a little Roleplaying, stuff like that. I’m big on Roleplaying, really. Afterward, time to head home, feed the dogs, scarf something down and work on school stuff. When that’s all said and done, I make one last run on the internet and work on somehting at Doink. Usually, I just flip around animations, looking for inspiration. If I feel like, I sometimes play some video games, and make a video of my gameplay. That’s about it.

How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?

I was…… About 6 or 7 when i started drawing. And my first drawing was a trace of a pokemon. After that, i kinda just ran with it, until I met me a buddy in PE, around 5’th grade. He was good at drawing Sonic the Hedgehog, and that inspired me. Now, I still draw Sonic, but not exclusively. And Animating? My first animation was a Stick figure cartoon, made with a little tick figure program, that helps you make cartoons with Stick figures. It wasn’t to good, but it was smooth, at the least. Otherwise, I have no training Unless you count self training.

Do you have a favorite artist or animator?

Hmm…. My favorite Artist to date would have to be….. Trace Yardely, of the Sonic the hedgehog Comic. His style is unique, great looking, and keeps the comic from looking to “Adultish” or however you want to put it. My favorite Animator? At the moment, It’s the legendary Terkoiz of FluidAnims.com and ShiftLimits.com I enjoy his style of presentation. And the cinematics.

What inspires you?

Only two things in this world inspire me. Video games, and…… Uh……. Um…… Video games. And Maybe the Blue Blur, too. (Sonic the hedgehog)

Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?

Haven”t you guess? He’s Cool, he’s blue, and He’s in Smash Bros. Brawl (FINALLY!! WOOOO!!!) Sonic the Hedgehog is his name, and Speed’s his game!

What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?

Right now, My favorite band is Cryoshell. They’re the latest band to play for the commercials of my favorite toy line, Lego’s Bionicle. The story line for this stuff is so deep, I’m immersed! Bye Bye Babylon is their latest, and what hooked me.

What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?

Outside of DoInk? I’d have to say only a few. Deviantart.com, where I roleplay and post my pencil work, a small Sonic the hedgehog roleplay forum called Lapse of Memory, (www.iblis-trigger.net/lom/forum) Which is in danger of dying, quickly. I also frequent Youtube.com, and a little(Not) site called Mugen-Infantry.net.  Fun stuff, no?

What are your hobbies?

Hobbies? What are these things called hobbies? All I do is play games, do school work, and draw. And make cartoons on DoInk, of course.

What are your favorite Computer Games?

I have only two games that are on my fave list. Sonic Battle, for the GBA, and M.U.G.E.N. Both are fighting games, and both are customizable to an extent. Just plain fun.

How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?

I found DoInk through some friends on Skype. One specifically. I think her name on DoInk was Viikay, but it’s been a long time since she’s last visited DoInk. Or so she says.

Any advice for other DoInk users?

Don’t be impatient, don’t give up, and keep pushing to improve. Everybody everywhere has something that can improve on. And practice most definitely makes perfect.

Your favorite clip that you have done?
