This Weeks Featured Artist-Mimiokis
This weeks featured artist is an amazing talent. She has some of the coolest animations. We were totally blown away by color dumb her three minute animation which is awesome! Amazingly good animation and characters. Unbelievably in one week she already has 10,000 view on that clip. She is also an amazing community member and inspires us all. This weeks featured artist is Mimiokis.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
Now that I’m in college, my typical day has changed a bit. I still wake up between 7 and 8am and go to class, but my school day now ends around 2pm… or 6, depending on the weekday. Luckily I have no classes on Friday- Hoho suckers! I usually find myself being very tired and doing homework or hand-cutting a lot of paper for Design class.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
I’ve been drawing since 6th grade, my first picture was an AWESOME(awful) dragon. I’ve never seriously tried to animate anything before DoInk. But thanks to this website, I learned that I love animation, and now I plan to major in it! Feel free to take credit for changing my life, DoInk staff!
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
My favorite animation studio is Studio 4c, a Japanese studio (no surprise there) I’m a horrible animation student and I don’t know any famous individuals. I can’t name DoInkers that I adore because I know I’d leave too many out and feel awful for having gruel for brains.
What inspires you?
This is really geeky, but learning inspires me; especially biology and psychology. I don’t get inspired by typically inspiring/artistic things very much, which makes me feel like an oddball, even in the art world.
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
Big Dog from Two Stupid Dogs and Johnny Bravo! I never really got into anime, but Rock Lee from Naruto is… interesting. c:
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
My roommate just turned on “9 days”, the song about the girl who cried a river and drowned the world. My ears weep.
My favorite band is Hellogoodbye- it’s the first band I ever owned a CD of (late bloomer as that was in 2006!), and my favorite CD is Unearthed by ES Posthumus. It’s quite epic.
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
DoIn… wait not DoInk? I don’t go anywhere but DoInk… c: unless you count my college website: ecu.edu

What are your hobbies?
I like to craft things, even if I’m not very good at it. I like to sculpt, paint, sew, draw, etc. My Art History teacher insists that I’m not an Artist but a Craftsman. He makes no sense half of the time. I also enjoy running. Apparently that’s weird?
What are your favorite Computer Games?
I love The Sims Makin’ Magic! …I don’t play computer games much. :B
I play anything else that isn’t a FPS though.
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
My friend Mrchelsea showed me an animation that she did. I thought she suddenly had a massive knowledge of Flash and demanded to know how she did it. When she told me about DoInk and I saw how simple it was, I couldn’t leave! I love the DoInk community, everyone is so supportive and inspired to create!
Any advice for other DoInk users?
Draw Kaikuro! Everyone will do it at least once. It’s like the DoInk community initiation requirement. Seriously though, if you keep animating and drawing, you’ll be amazed at how fast you improve! Then you draw Kaikuro again.
