This Week’s Featured Artist - LassieTheArtist

This week’s featured artist is incredibly talented. We really love her work and we always appreciate how active she is in our community. She is always so positive and always so involved in all our community contests. We also love that she is related to one of other favorite artists. So cool to have great families on DoInk! This week’s featured artist is: LassieTheArtist.

Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?

 
Being home-schooled, my mom usually comes in and wakes me up (unfortunately there’s no “snooze” button on her), then I get up and start my day off with my scheduled school subjects. I generally get done a little while after lunch. After that I sometimes DoInk a little while listening to an audiobook since it helps wind me down and get relaxed. And after dinner, my evenings are whatever my family has planned; we usually sit down together and play a Wii game or watch our favorite movies or TV shows.

How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?

 I probably started drawing right after I discovered what a pencil was, how to use it and what I could do with it. I’ve animated on here once or twice before but I much prefer drawing since I’m such a lazy artist! :P

Do you have a favorite artist or animator?

It’s hard to choose favorites among artists, but I’ll name my top three. Van Gogh would be my first since I love how abstract and imaginative and schizophrenic his paintings always are. Young Kim is my second, she’s a Japanese graphic novelist and the characters she draws are always breathtakingly beautiful. And my third is my mom, gkrussell99. She’s not a professional, but her wacky cartoons with their twisted humors always have me laughing. Hayao Miyazaki is my favorite animator.

What inspires you?

Other people are what inspire me most.

Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?

 It’s a tie between No-Face from “Spirited Away” and Jake from “Adventure Time.”

What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?

 My favorite musician is Adam Young and my favorite bands are Superchic(k) and ZOEgirl.

What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk? 

What are your hobbies? 

 Writing, exercising, and drawing (not just on DoInk). I like to act and sing too but I rarely ever get a chance to do either.

What are your favorite Computer Games?  

 Her Interactive’s “Nancy Drew” series. I like BigFishGame’s “Redrum: Time Lies” and it’s sequel “Redrum: Dead Diary.”


How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?

My friend KakashiFanGirl introduced it to me. It’s been very fun and everyone on here has been so nice to me, I’m hoping that I can improve!

If you could add any features to DoInk, what would they be?

  Like most people, I think that a sound effect and/or music app would be cool, but I enjoy DoInk without it.

Any advice for other DoInk users?

Don’t beg others to follow you and don’t despair if you haven’t been featured. A good way to get noticed is to participate in the FNDs and community contests, since others will see your inputs and the higher your chance of getting noticed will be.

What is your favorite clip that you have done? 

My favorite is my caricature of Benjamin Linus, since it’s the first caricature I’ve ever drawn that actually looks a little like the person I modeled it off of:
