This Week’s Featured Artist - KitSnicket
This week’s featured artist is someone we have watched for a long time. I was actually surprised that I had not interviewed her yet as a featured artist! My bad, sorry about that… She is amazing. The detail and complexity of her work is spectacular. She is just so incredibly talented. She inspires all of us in the DoInk community to be better just because of her work. Her featured clip is beautiful, and I have loved so many others clips she has done, like her “Winter background” and ” I’ll float on okay”, just to name a few. This week’s featured artist is KitSnicket.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
10AM waking up in the morning, gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs, got to have my- School. And, then after all that, I usually goof around the house either playing with my dog or working on things for my family.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
The earliest recollection I have of drawing was when I was probably six years old, my whole childhood was kind of a blur… No, I never touched animating before DoInk, I always watched Disney movies and wished I had the talent to do something like that someday, but unfortunately I convinced myself that I could never be able to do that.
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
On DoInk? Why suuuuuuuuure, I have all kinds of favorites, but I shall spare you the long list and shorten it to some of my top favorites, Naegirl42, SuperGoateeMaan and Apeman to name a few.
What inspires you?
I think usually when I draw something it is related to something in my life, whether it be a story that I wanted to half tell, or something that I thoroughly enjoy. Sometimes though, I just draw something and totally hate it, so instead of scrapping it I turn it into something else.
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
I’m an avatard, and shameless to boot. For those who don’t know, Avatar: The Last Airbender.
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
Sufjan Stevens, hands down. I usually mix in a little Diamond Rings and Arcade Fire too.
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
There are other websites aside from DoInk? Oh surely you must be joking.
Memebase is always good for a laugh in my book.
What are your hobbies?
WELL. I do have this thing for drawing, I bet ya’ll didn’t know about that. Bear wrestling, Skeet shooting, Ghosting, Running and horseback riding are a few.
What are your favorite Computer Games?
Oh gurl, pretty much any Valve game ever made. The ones I really play are Team Fortress 2, Portal and the Half-Life series.
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
I really don’t remember, I don’t usually click ads, so I assume Lil’ Inker just pulled me in. Experience? It has been lovely. If it wasn’t for DoInk I would not have the influence of other artists on my work, helping me and showing me better techniques. I’m really super grateful that I found this site.
If you could add any features to DoInk, what would they be?
Hm. I think it would be super cute if there was a way to erase a straight line. I have this thing about straight lines.
Any advice for other DoInk users?
Be nice. Be willing to learn from your mistakes and don’t think that you can’t do something just because it looks hard. Just do it.
