This Week’s Featured Artist - Cane
This week’s featured artist is so amazing. He has blown us away with so many of his clips. Certainly his Harry Potter, the spotlight clip with this interview is just spectacular. His shading and detail are really amazing and we just love his style. You really need to check out all his work and we just find his style, shading and great interview an inspiration to all of us here at DoInk. This week’s featured artist is Cane.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
The typical day for me is going to school, doing lots of homework, playing basketball, and hanging out with my brothers and friends. I take breaks from homework to draw on doink and in my sketchbook.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
My older brothers and I have always liked to draw. I probably started drawing around 3 years old.
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
One of my favorite artists is Carl Bloch. I’ve seen his original work in Denmark and he is amazing.
What inspires you?
Many things inspire me. I’m very interested in portraying shadow and the effects of light, so I pay attention to that kind of stuff. Music inspires me all the time. I always listen to music when I draw.
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
Tarzan is my favorite animated character.
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
I don’t have a favorite band or musician. I listen to many different kinds of music. I like deadmau5, Linkin Park, Coldplay, Era, Enya, and a lot more.
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
I don’t really have another favorite website. Maybe facebook, but I wouldn’t call that a favorite.
What are your hobbies?
I love to draw, play basketball, weight lift, and hang out with friends.
What are your favorite Computer Games?
One of my favorite computer games is Age of Empires. It’s pretty sick.
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
I found doink when I was working on a school project. A kid in my class told me about it, so I decided to use it. I was an amateur when I made the project and there is still a ton I have to learn. The project was about ninjas, and I thought it was pretty cool, but it could be a lot better. I have thoroughly enjoyed this website and style of art. I look forward to making more animations.
If you could add any features to DoInk, what would they be?
If I could add any feature to Doink I would have the option of sound. It wouldn’t even have to be voices, it could just be sound effects. That would be neat. But it’s a pretty solid website as it is.
Any advice for other DoInk users?
My advice for other Doinkers is patience.
What is your favorite clip that you have done?
My favorite animation is Harry James Potter because it was the first time I tried a new style and approach.
