The Featured Artist of the Week - Xthatasiankidx
This weeks featured artist is an incredibly talented person. I am always so amazed at how seamless the motion is on his animations. He has recently done a epic animation call Samurai Hat, which is not his featured animation, but you should definitely check it out. He is a great community member, inspiring others and giving great feedback. He has been really good about giving us here at DoInk feedback too and we really do appreciate that. Oh and I even love his avatar. Our featured artist this week is: Xthatasiankidx.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
A typical day…? Well, the first thing I do is: Wake up (Like a boss.), use the bathroom (like a boss) eat breakfast (like a boss)….hahah, sorry, I couldn’t help myself… anyway, brush my teeth (Hygiene is very important my friends) Go to school. Spend the next 8 hours at school. Go home, work up some shirt designs, log on to DoInk. Work on some digital art, then DoInk. and I end it all with a shower and guitar/piano/flute/saxophone practice from 7:00 to 10:00. Then, and only then, do I get started with homework. Hahah.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
I was eight. Or seven…Seveight! Never animated before, unless using those post-it stacks to make an “animation flip book” thing. I was thrilled to find DoInk.
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
Artist? Yes. Vitaly S. Alexius. Some of you may have seen his work before on deviantart. Crazy good.
What inspires you?
Tough one. Anything. From socks, to inside jokes, to PreCal, and even old memories. (Especially memories).Sometimes, though I may be inspired as the squirrel that discovered burying acorns was the way to go, I’m unable to come up with anything. It’s as if I want to do something, but I don’t know what. Artist’s block, writer’s block, whatever you want to call it. I get it a lot. =P
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
Does anyone remember Outlaw Star??? Mann!!! What a great show! It ran on toonami on Saturday night back in the day. Right after Dragon Ball Z, at 10:30. But yeah, Gene from OutLaw star, by far, is my favorite.
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
My favorite musician = Steve Vai = genius. Genius and talent. He writes his own stuff, and every performance of his is perfect. No errors in his music, no matter how technical it gets. Even when a string breaks. On the other hand, I’m a HUGE fan of Bowling for Soup. Listening to their song Epiphany at the moment. A hilarious and life-lesson-teaching band. I love em.
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
Deviantart, and Facebook. By far. I’ve been able to connect with all sorts of friends that I’ve not seen for years on Facebook and dA.
What are your hobbies?
Playing guitar and art. No contest.
What are your favorite Computer Game?
Computer game? As far as computers go, I’m gonna say Maple Story. But for the ps3 (btw my id is PiratedIceCream, so if you wanna add me, you can) it’s actually a ps2 game, but KATAMARI DAMACI and the whole series. Love love love that katamari.
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
Found it through a facebook ad. My experience has been amazing. Though I wasn’t around for the beginning, I still got to see it grow as each day passed by. Even when I was unable to get on DoInk for a while, I kept thinking, “I wonder how much it’s grown…” I come back, and BAM, everything’s better than it was! I didn’t think it was possible.
Any advice for other DoInk users?
Being popular, or getting alot of likes, comments, or even a cool feature like this, amounts to nothing if you don’t enjoy what you do. Take pride in your work, no matter what your skill level is. Enjoy what you draw, and draw to make yourself happy. Also, whatever life throws at you, take it and grow. Learn from every experience, jump at opportunities, and be thankful for what you have.
