The Featured Artist of the Week - Dalia
This weeks featured artist came to DoInk very early, through an invite from a friend. She was one of our first international users which we thought was the coolest! We love her style and her amazing personality. Always so kind and helpful to people in the community and her clips are always gorgeous. She is a great inspiration to all of us here at DoInk. Our featured artist of the week is Dalia.
Tell us about yourself, what is a typical day like?
I’m an 18 years old Iraqi girl. I was born in Baghdad/ Iraq. I lived in Baghdad for 16 years then I moved to Amman/Jordan. I still live in Amman. I can’t speak English very well :) On a typical day I wake up at 6 o’clock. I have my breakfast then go to school. After coming back from school I take a short nap, then I do my homework. After that I usually read, draw, or hang out with my friends. Before going to bed I watch TV or play on the computer.
How old were you when you started drawing? Ever animated anything before?
I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember. I used to draw people with a head, a shoe, and no hands :P As for animation, DoInk was my first experience, and I like it.
Do you have a favorite artist or animator?
Not really, but here on DoInk there are many talented artists and animators.
What inspires you?
Books and stories inspire me. I try to imagine the characters I read about and draw them. I also get inspiration from other people’s drawings.
Do you have a favorite cartoon and/or anime character?
I love all Disney cartoons. I also like Tom & Jerry cartoons and Detective Conan (Case Closed) anime. My favorite characters are Belle (Beauty and the Beast movie) , and Kid the Phantom Thief (Detective Conan anime).
What is your favorite musician or band, what are you listening to?
I hear all types of music. My favorite musicians/bands are : Nickelback, Yves Larock, Beyoncé, Enrique Iglesias, and Kevin Rudolf .
What are your Favorite websites, outside of DoInk?
Facebook.com : It’s a great way to connect and keep up with friends.
deviantART.com : I spend a lot of time there. YouTube.com : I love videos.
What are your hobbies?
Drawing, reading, and Photography. I like programming and web design but I’m not very good in them.
What are your favorite Computer Game?
The Sims, Sim City, and SonicX. I also like Crash Team Racing and Sheep Dog ‘n’ Wolf (which are PlayStation games).
How did you find DoInk and what is your experience so far?
I was chatting with a friend , , on MSN when he told me about DoInk and sent me an invitation. My experience with DoInk has been wonderful. It’s simple and easy to use, and people here are very nice, and that’s awesome!
Any advice for other DoInk users?
Never give up. Probably everyone would give this advice, but that’s because it’s true. You can’t get better at something unless you keep trying. And when you get stuck while drawing, check other people’s drawings. You might get some ideas from their work. Oh and believe in yourself and your talent.
